Walk Buddies in the Houston, TX area

I decided to start looking for walking buddies in my area.  I think it would be a great encouragement for me and will give me a chance to meet new people.  Whether we meet every day or only once a week is fine with me.

Fun and better yet, it was free!

Here in Houston a local christian radio station, KSBJ 89.3 has free concerts that they call brown bags at local Chick-fil-a’s in Houston and the surounding area.  Last night it was Francesca Batiselli (not sure of the spelling of her name, if I got it wrong sorry about that).  It was loads of fun.  It was an outdoor concert held in the parking lot.  We danced and sang just about the whole time.  It is good exercise, even though it was fun.  Chick-fil-a is one of only two fast food places that I eat at.  I usually get a grilled chicken sandwich w/lettuce and tomato along with either coleslaw, carrot raisan salad or a regular side salad and water.  Subway is the other “fast food” place I go to.  I like these two the best because I can get healthy meals that I like to eat there.  The other places I’ve been too as far as fast food joints have what they call healthy menu items, but they’re not as good in my opinion.

This is totally weird

Ok this is totally weird for me.  For the longest time I’ve either maintained or lost 1 pound per week, no matter what I did to change my routine.  But then I do the same routine for two weeks in a row and I lose three pounds as of a few minutes ago.  How weird is that?

But hey, I’ll take it.  It’s a loss and that is what I’m looking to do.  I’m proud of myself.  My starting weight at the begining of my journey was 278 pounds and now I’m 204.  I want to lose a total of 150 pounds and so far I’m down 74.  One more pound and I will be at my halfway mark.  Yipee!!  I’ve got a goal outfit that I am aiming to be it eventually.  I just got to keep that ultimate goal in mind. Not to just look good in that little black dress but to be healthy and possibly be able to help others in my situation.

The Biggest Loser

Today there was an open casting call here in Houston for The Biggest Loser.  My sister and I went and auditioned. I don’t think I made it but it was an great experience.  We met several nice people while waiting in line.  Hearing other people’s stories and knowing that I am not alone in my struggle in a way makes me feel better and gives me the encouragement to keep on going.

Goals

I haven’t posted in my blog in a while.  I’ll be posting my weekly goals here.  For this week my goals are as follows:

1. Drink between 80 and 100 ounces of water

2. Exercise 5 to 6 days this week

3. Eat Vegetarian meals only on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday

Eliptical Machine Vs. Treadmill

I am so glad I traded my treadmill in for the eliptical machine.  I am getting an much better workout and I am working more of my body.  I lost three pounds the first week I had it, although I have maintained the last two weeks. That sucks, but at least I have not gained any weight, considering the junky stuff my coworkers have been bringing in.  I am so glad I took this coming week off for vacation.  That way, I can refocus myself on my goals and get back to better eating habits.

Happy Days are Here Again….

Woo hoo!  After a week or two of little to no weight loss I’ve lost 3 pounds.  I think it’s partly because I traded in my treadmill for an eliptical machine and changed the way I work out.  I’ve also got my blood sugar back under control.

Happy Turkey Day

Ok, I turned into Miss Piggy at lunch time, but I ate good food, though.  On the good side, I lost another pound.

Personal Best

Ok, I’m a little slow.  Yesterday I did my personal best by walking 3 miles, which I’ve never done before.  I’m not gonna lie, it got me a little bit but I’m not as bad off as I thought I would be.  I’m going for an two-peat today.

Yeah!

I’ve lost 1 lb and 4 ounces.  Ok, I know, nothing to have a party about but I’ve been stuck at the same weight for week and a half or two.
